Some people brought to my attention that someone was being really rude to because of her journal, so i will just say this where everyone can clearly see, she is not breaking the rules!! i can't see the original comments, but from the replies and what i've been told by other people, this person was just being a jerk and accusing her of cheating. I don't appreciate someone being rude and acting immature to my friends and people who have entered the contest, it's just uncalled for. If you really think someone is breaking the rules, feel free to note me, but there is no need to start drama because of something that is supposed to be fun! Julie is a great artist  and I really hate the fact that someone is so petty they would act this way towards her over a contest!  Anyone being rude or mean to people in this contest will be blocked by me and not be allowed in this contest or any that i have in the future!

I have wanted one for ages, so to celebrate finally getting one, I've decided to have a contest.

The prizes are 

1st place: 1 month premium membership -or- 400 points (your choice) along with 3 of your works being featured for one month on my page.

2nd place: 150 points along with one month feature on my page of 3 of your works.

3rd place: 50 points along with one month feature on my page of 3 of your works.

So as you see, there are six prizes. If not enough people enter the contest, I will extend the deadline for two weeks. If after that there still aren't enough, I will just go ahead with voting for the entries I do have. I'm just letting you know this ahead of time because I am not the most popular here on DA, and I'm worried enough people may not enter.

Rules:

This  is a Photo Manipulation contest. If your art does not use 2 or more stock photos, or is not submitted in the Photo manipulation category, it is not eligible for  the contest, sorry. No digital paintings, mixed media, etc.

Must be a NEW WORK, made on or after September 18. You must put a link to both my main page and this journal in the description. (Ex: Made for  the Photo Manipulation contest by Dandelionchronicles . or you can use thumbnails. whichever you prefer).

You have to be watching me (new watchers are welcome) <this is an important rule to me, because I am trying to get more exposure for my art. If you ignore this rule, your entry will be ignored, sorry.

You must follow DA rules, of course. All stock must be credited, if it is your own, or purchased resources, please say so!  Google images (or any other image search engine) isn't a legit stock provider. So don't use images from there. Also don't use celebrity photos, as that is copyright violation.



All entries should be submitted by midnight (eastern time) on September 29. Voting will last until midnight Oct 7.
Voting will be only for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes. I will personally choose runner up. I know this is different from most contest, but it is how I want to do it.

Sorry guys, but it's time for a rant.
Now I know this may be a small, petty issue, but it honestly drives me crazy. There are tons of people on here that seem to just submit their art to whatever folder they see first. Like this,  ,  , <da:thumb id="482689991"/>, 

all of these are in the texture category. I'm about 100% sure that these are not textures, PLUS, half of the time I find stuff like this misplaced, it is also using COPYRIGHTED images. Google isn't your own personal stock provider. Celebrity photos are copyrighted just like the photos here on DA. The photographers who take these celeb photos are no different than the photographers here on DA. If something isn't in the resources and stock section, you wouldn't use it to edit, and the same rules apply to photos you find outside DA.


 And what about things like this:

 

this is in the photoshop brush category. Anyone who uses photoshop knows brushes are .ABR files. Not png, or jpg, or anything else. But strangely, there is no abr in this zipped folder. SO WHY IS IT IN BRUSHES???

And another one stealing copyrighted images, along with being a png file placed in the actions section.


I don'r know, maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hill as the saying goes, but to me, this is SO ANNOYING. it just downright pisses me off. I can understand little things, like maybe you put a dark manipulation in the emotional category or something, but most of these are just ridiculous. they have nothing to do with the section their placed in.
We have categories for a reason, but these people just completely disregard that. 

What do you think, am I overreacting or is this just as annoying to you as it is to me?
